On 1st June, new legislation affecting Private Landlords and Letting Agents, will be enforced.
This is expected to have a most profound effect on the Property Industry and will fundamentally change the way in which Agents or indeed Landlords, are able to charge for services relating to the letting of property.
We will no longer be able to charge mandatory fees or require Tenants to take or use a specific service. This ban applies to an Assured Shorthold Tenancy, a Licence to Occupy or a Tenancy which meets the conditions set out in Schedule 1 of the Housing Act 1988. Company Lets and non-assured tenancies will be exempt.
